TV Buying - The Basics

By Lois Joseph

While buying a TV for your house or office, there are some factors which need close inspection. Make a detailed study of all these factors. If you make your purchase after going through all necessary details, you are likely to save a lot of time money in the process.

There is every possibility that you might end up buying a television that doesn't fit properly in your TV cabinet. When we are spending so much money on it and our valuable time, then why not buy the right TV that fits properly in cabinet. Agreed that there is always a chance to go and return it but why waste time and energy in this process, it is always advised to know your room and cabinet space properly so that you can look for only those that fit your criteria.

It's not just done to know the room and cabinet dimensions, we need to know if a particular size of TV will be suitable for the room size or not. We can find more info about how to calculate TV distance on the internet.

Okay, now when you know how big a TV you can fit in your room, you also need to know how big a TV would make sense in your room. You can't blindly go for a giant screen TV or a Plasma TV just because everybody has it. There needs to be proper viewing space in your living room to fit the TV. With the growing craze of HDTVs, the temptation is hard to resist, but in order to get the best TV viewing experience a proper distance must be maintained between you and the TV.

Transport of the TV is also a big problem if you are buying a TV bigger than 25 inches as that's the maximum size you can transport in a car. Actually it can sound odd but it's really helpful if you check for the free home delivery service by the showroom vehicle. Why do you want to pay extra, later on for the transport when most of the showrooms give it for free?.

Okay this sounds like a real trivial one, but you'll only feel the impact when you're faced with it. When you go to buy a TV, and if you are planning to take your TV home with you, don't forget to make sure that your vehicle can carry it. A small car, for example, wouldn't be able to carry more than a 25-inch TV set. Most stores have provision for free home delivery for large TVs. It's always advisable to check with your showroom representative and take advantage of it.

Last but not the least you need to look into it's most important feature; the video quality. This can be ascertained from features like Flatness of screen, Presence of comb filter, Progressive Scan, Picture Tube Darkness.

Last but not the least make sure that you have a look at the remote of the TV you are buying. Make sure it is easy to use by all the people in the house. Everyone will be using it.
