Keeping Up With Technology at Home

By Jason Thomas

Every year, if not more often, there are newer, more advanced versions of every tech item you can think of hitting the market. For example, consider the cell phone industry. Cell phone manufacturers are constantly introducing new cell phones that are technologically superior to their previous models. If you want to keep up with the latest cell phone technology you will be spending quite a bit of money, but if you were to purchase a model that has recently been replaced by a newer model, then you may be able to save money on a good phone.

You don't have to go out and buy the newest 50 inch LCD television to get a great home entertainment experience. Sure, they look and sound great, but for the thousands of dollars that they cost, they better sound and look great. TV's are just like anything else that change each season. Just like when the new car models come out or the new fall line of cloths is released, it is the perfect time to pick up last years model or style.

If you are in the market for a new HDTV you should look to see if you can find last year's models on sale. If you see a sale advertised you should look into the manufacturers, to make sure it is a brand you have heard of, and the specific models that are on sale. You can then look up independent ratings on line to see what other people think about that particular HDTV. You do not want to buy an HDTV that is on sale because it is a poor quality TV, as opposed to a TV that is on sale because there is a newer, better model.

You might even be able to sweeten the deal by picking up a floor model. Normally I wouldn't suggest getting an extended warranty on anything consumable like a TV, but when you buy a floor model it might be worth it to get one. That way you are protected a little bit longer and the money you spend on the extended warranty is more than made up on what you saved by going with the floor model in the first place. Just a thought.

There are many ways to keep up with the best electronic gear, you just have to do a little leg work and not be the kind of person that has to have the newest thing right away. If you can wait just a little while, you can save a whole bunch of money. Remember, when plasma screens first came out, a 32 inch was three or four thousand dollars. Not they are under five hundred in some cases.
